The Joys of Toddlerhood

Warning: Gross Content Ahead 😷 They say every child is different. Raising my tribe and working with children has certainly confirmed that for me. I feel that one of the stages that really highlights this is the Toddler Stage.

Now, I've always really appreciated the fact that my toddler can go to sleep without any help. We say goodnight, shut his door most of the way and he goes to sleep for around the same time each sleep. Routine and consistency is great.

But as lovely as that is - for a few months now (on average once or twice a week) I go in to my gorgeous almost 2 year old cherub - who has awoken from his nap - only to be greeted with his own self made artwork.

Artwork that he has quietly made after waking up early from his nap.

Artwork that sometimes spans from his head to his little toes as well as his beautiful white cot and the walls behind it.

Sometimes he looks proud of his work, sometimes not.

My child is a poo - painter.

He pretends to be disgusted when confronted about it at times but we know he's really not. You can see the mischevious and sometimes proud look in between the mess on his little face.

And despite our attempts at preventing it, this little Houdini finds a way.

A beautiful, intelligent child with lovely manners...

But also a loud, messy gremlin who loves to squeal as loud as he can all the way to school and back, who tries to discipline his own parents and of course paint himself and his room with his own shit.

The rollercoaster that is the toddler stage has so many highs and lows.

This is why they're made cute.

They can drive you absolutely mental and then make your heart melt 2 seconds later.

He is different to his siblings when they were toddlers and im sure his little brothers will be completely different again.

As gross as it is - who knows, maybe it is a sign of a potential creative genius of the family? 🤞😂
